Driving Instructor Courses Mansfield
Becoming a driving instructor is hard work, but at Sherwood Driving Instructor Training we will equip you with all the tools, knowledge and experience you need to pass the three essential exams and start your new career as a driving instructor in Mansfield, Chesterfield, Worksop and Nottinghamshire. These exams are conducted by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and the basics of these exams are explained below.
The first exam (part one) is a theory test, with 100 multiple choice questions on various aspects of driving and road safety. You must achieve 85 per cent to pass. It will be followed by a hazard perception test, in which you will be shown 14 video clips showing different road and traffic conditions. You have to show, by clicking a computer mouse, that you can see potentially hazardous situations developing.
To prepare for this part of the test Sherwood Driving Instructor Training will support you through a structured revision plan, including home study and sessions at our headquarters in Mansfield. You will also receive a hazard perception tutorial at our office.
You are allowed as many attempts as you need to pass this part of the driving instructor course.
The second part of the examination process (part two) is a test of driving ability. Candidates are put through a one-hour advanced driving test, allowing them to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the principles of good driving and road safety. You must demonstrate you are a safe and competent driver. You cannot expect to teach others to drive if you are incapable of a high standard of driving yourself.
Full driving instructor training will be given for the test, which you are allowed three attempts to pass. This part of the driving instructor training usually takes about nine hours; however, more training will be given if it is needed.
The final exam (part three) is a test of instructional ability. It is conducted in two 30 minute parts, with the examiner taking on the role of a novice driver in the first half of this test; and a learner who is nearing driving test level, or a full licence holder looking for refresher lessons, in the second half.
For this test Sherwood Driving Instructor Training will offer you classroom sessions focusing on the theory of the test, as well as home study packs, including lesson plans and briefings, to help you learn how to instruct and structure lessons both for the test, and when you begin your career as a driving instructor. There will also be around 35 hours of in-car role-play training with our skilled instructor trainers.
Becoming a Driving Instructor Mansfield
All the driving instructor courses provided for our prospective driving instructors in Mansfield, Chesterfield, Worksop, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire are very thorough. Our aim is to prepare you fully for everything you could face once you become a driving instructor.
Your training could take anything from four months to a year to complete, depending on how much time you can dedicate to it. All sessions take place at the Sherwood Driving Instructor Training Centre in Mansfield Woodhouse, Monday to Friday, during the daytime.
Each course costs £2,700, which can be paid up front or in three instalments throughout the course. Additional test fees are also payable to the Driving Standards Agency, as well as a registration fee of £300. Part one of the test costs £90, and parts two and three cost £111.
